The Weight of Emptiness

For the call that never comes,

For the apology less than sincere,

For distance “un”broke,

I carry a weight.

For the words unsaid,

For the dream not chased,

For the word I spoke,

I carry a weight.

What comfortably, strangling heaviness

This absence constrains.
